New SCHABZIGER Höhenweg trail open

The old «Ziger-Highway»  has been renamed to «SCHABZIGER Höhenweg» (Alpine hiking trail) and offers hikers, lovers of nature and tourists an outstanding walk along with informative and culinary highlights. An experience for the entire family - and for all the senses.

With the new name «SCHABZIGER Höhenweg» a fresh wind is blowing trough the Habetgschwänd - Mullern - Fronalp hiking region. The former simple hiking path has been transformed into an exiting themed trail with a tempting array of culinary delights along the way.

«Ten information boards give simple descriptions of the history, production and marketing of Schabziger cheese And there's also lots of interesting text and graphics about farming in the mountainous Alpine landscape of Glarnerland and about the milk itself. In a shelter at Station 5 there is even a cheese-forming machine used to form the traditional Stöckli/Sap Sago (cone-shaped cheese) that dates back to 1910 and was used for many years in the Mollis Zigerribi (Schabziger factory)»
